Police have charged 34-year-old Zamir Nathoo of Kitchener, in connection with anti-feminist posters and fraudulent emails at the University of Waterloo.
He was arrested on Sunday following a joint investigation by the Waterloo Regional Police Service and the University of Waterloo Police that was launched in February 2011.
At that time, an email was sent purporting to be from the university's president and posters and literature began appearing on campus.
The email and posters included an image of scientist Marie Curie, with text that read "THE TRUTH. The brightest Woman this Earth ever created was Marie Curie, The mother of the Nuclear Bomb. You tell me if the plan of Women leading Men is still a good idea."
The posters were plastered over the student election campaign signs of female candidates.
After the initial incident, additional material, emails and posters were distributed on campus, sparking concern among many students and staff.
Waterloo Regional police say the investigation found that similar literature was sent to Wilfrid Laurier University and the Balsillie School of Business.
Nathoo, a former engineering student at the University of Waterloo, has been charged with criminal harassment, impersonation with intent and mischief to property.
