Waterloo Regional Police say on Wednesday, a male suspect entered a home on Hamilton Street in Cambridge, took a set of keys and then allegedly stole a vehicle from the driveway.

On Thursday, shortly after 7:30 a.m., the vehicle, a 2005 Corolla, was involved in a hit and run collision in the Gunn Avenue and Erindale Crescent area; there were no injuries.

At 8 a.m. the same day, the car was found abandoned in the Trico Drive and Newport Drive area, according to police.

Police say the K9 Unit tracked the suspect, who was then arrested.

He has been identified as a 40-year-old Cambridge man.

He has been charged with Break and Enter and Commit and Theft of a motor vehicle, and will appear in court on Friday.

Police say their investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be laid.
