An investigation into two years’ worth of break-ins at two Wilfrid Laurier University residences has resulted in 60 charges being laid against a Kitchener man.

Waterloo Regional Police say Jeremiah Rojas, 23, is responsible for break-ins at the Waterloo College Hall residence over the school’s 2012-13 Christmas break, and at the Little House residence during the current school year.

Rojas was first arrested on Sunday in connection with residence break-ins that allegedly occurred earlier this month.

Friday, police announced that further charges are being laid in relation to the Waterloo College Hall break-ins, which saw students return to the building to find that their rooms had been ransacked and valuable items stolen.

Police say Rojas was a residence don in the buildings where the thefts occurred, allowing him access to a master key that he allegedly used to enter the apartments.

In total, he is charged with 39 counts of breaking and entering, 10 counts of mischief to data, five counts of theft under $5,000, four counts of mischief and one count apiece of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and trafficking in stolen goods.

“We have 39 incidents in total at this point that investigators are aware of,” police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel tells CTV News.

Police say they seized computers, tablets, smartphones, personal belongings and other items worth an estimated $20,000 in connection with this investigation, but haven’t been able to track down the rightful owners in all cases.

Anyone who had property stolen from Waterloo College Hall during the last school year or from Little House since September 2013 is asked to contact police at 519-650-8500 ext. 4499.
