The father of Malala Yousafzai spoke in Waterloo Region Thursday night about the importance of education.

Ziauddin Yousafzai is a Pakistani diplomat and the Chair of the Global Peace Centre.

His daughter was shot in the head by the Taliban, which had banned girls from going to school.

She has since become an activist for female education and a Nobel Prize laureate.

Ziauddin Yousafzaiand his wife were invited to a special lecture held by CIGI where they brought the message that the world can be changed by books, not bullets.
