The Manulife LPGA Classic is packing up and leaving Waterloo.

But it’s not going far – only about 25 kilometres.

Tournament officials announced Thursday that the 2015 and 2016 editions of the event will take place at Whistle Bear Golf Club.

“To associate Whistle Bear with (Manulife and the LPGA) is going to be great for the club,” Brad Duench, Whistle Bear’s managing partner, tells CTV News.

For the first three years of the tournament’s existence, it was held at Grey Silo Golf Club in Waterloo.

In the most recent Manulife LPGA Classic, held earlier this month, Inbee Park shot a final-round 61, tying the course record, to take the tournament by three strokes.

“It was well put together and well run. We look forward to trying to continue that momentum that they’ve built,” says Duench.

“We have the resources here to be able to get it done.”

Whistle Bear previously hosted the Canadian PGA Championship in 2004 and 2005.

The 2015 edition of the tournament will run June 3 through June 7.
