Eight new names have been added to Waterloo Region’s Hall of Fame.

A special induction ceremony was held Sunday at Waterloo Region Museum in Kitchener.

The Hall of Fame honours individuals and groups that made significant contributions to the community. 

This year’s inductees are:

Tom Clancy, a long-time parks administrator, community volunteer/builder.

Elsie Cressman, advancement of midwifery.

Clarence Diefenbacher, farmer and cattle-breeder.

Anthony “Tony” Matlock, accomplished golfer, builder of two golf courses.

Albert “Ab” Morton, world class marathon athlete.

Ronald Schlegel, entrepreneur, academic and philanthropist.

James Schmidt, publisher/editor of The Ayr News.

Ron Smith, accomplished hockey coach.

The Hall of Fame is located on the second floor of the Waterloo Region Museum.
