Two major local charities are in desperate need of donations this holiday season. The United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries still needs $50,000 to meet its campaign goal, and local Salvation Army Kettles are $30,000 short.
In the case of the Salvation Army, there is only one day left to make up for the shortfall, as they do not collect donations on Sundays.
Meanwhile, the United Way in Cambridge still has one month left to reach its target. But even with more time its executive director, Ron Dowhaniuk, says it will be a challenge.
“It’s been a bit of a struggle as have a number of other campaigns,” Dowhaniuk told CTV News. “We’re continuing to move forward and every contribution is valuable to us.”
Contributions to the United Way can be made online. Salvation Army kettles will be at 27 different locations across Waterloo Region on Christmas Eve from 11am until 2pm.
