Kitchener native Nicolas Hague is taking home a year end award from the Ontario Hockey League. Hague is this year’s winner of the Bobby Smith award as the OHL scholastic player of the year.

The former Kitchener Dutchmen defenceman posted an 82 percent average in Grade 12 and he also enjoyed a great season on the ice. Hague scored 14 goals and picked up 10 assists playing for the Mississauga Steelheads.

The 17-year old blueliner is eligible for the NHL draft in 2017. He played one season for the Junior ‘B’ Dutchmen in 2015.
