A Kitchener man was airlifted to hospital in Hamilton, in serious condition, after a serious crash in Kitchener Tuesday night.

Around 11 p.m., a 23-year-old Kitchener man was driving along Forestwood Drive in Kitchener when he lost control of the car,  which left the roadway and struck a tree.

Kitchener firefighters had to extricate the man from the car, which was destroyed in the collision.

The driver sustained significant, life-threatening injuries, and was transported to St. Mary’s General Hospital. He was then transferred by air ambulance to a trauma centre in Hamilton.

Police believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in the incident.
