A Kitchener man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a beer store and stealing the cash donation box for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Waterloo Regional Police were called to the Beer Store downtown Kitchener on King St W at 4:20 a.m.
Officer’s arrived on scene and noticed the front door had been forced open.
Police located the suspect several blocks from the store and arrested him.
The 28-year-old is facing a number of charges including Break and Enter, Commit Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach Probation.
He is expected to appear for a bail hearing on Monday.
The recovered money will be returned to the society, police say.
