Patients at Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital can now have family members and other visitors with them at any time of day.

Officials with the hospitals announced Wednesday that visitors from designated “partners in care” are now allowed 24 hours a day at both facilities, with the patient’s consent.

Extended visits will be allowed “depending on a patient’s preference, condition and care needs.”

While both hospitals already allowed family visits around the clock for patients in intensive or palliative care, Wednesday’s announcement opens that up to include all patients.

Regular visiting hours at both hospitals are between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
