The SIU is investigating after the body of a man was found inside a home on Cedar Street in Cambridge following an alleged domestic dispute.
Waterloo Region Police Insp. Kevin Thaler tells CTV News police responded to a domestic incident around mid-day on Thursday.
There are reports that a woman was taken to hospital at that time, but a man in the home refused to leave.
The Waterloo Region Police Service Emergency Response Unit was then called in and the area was cordoned off.
According to an SIU media release, upon entering the residence around 2:30 p.m., investigators found “the body of a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.”
Streets in the area were closed for much of the day but reopened late Thursday afternoon.
However, SIU investigators were expected to remain at the scene into the evening.
