Derek Snyder didn’t get any sleep Tuesday night.

The Baden resident, like many of his neighbours, was kept up by the sound of a train’s engine running not far from his home.

“It’s keeping the whole neighbourhood up,” Synder told CTV News.

“I don’t think there’s any reason why they couldn’t have shut the train off when they parked it here.”

The train pulled in near Charlotta Street Tuesday evening, and kept running until it pulled away a little after 10 a.m.

Its owner, Goderich-Exeter Railway, says it tries to avoid leaving trains running idle near residential areas.

Snyder said it was the first time in his five years living near the tracks that he had witnessed a train idling overnight.
