No injuries were reported at a fire at an under-renovation home Saturday evening, even though one person was still inside the building when firefighters arrived.

The fire broke out around 6:15 p.m. at a home on Lakeside Drive in Kitchener, near Greenbrook Drive, and was called in by a neighbour.

According to a Kitchener Fire spokesperson, the fire began in or above a wood-burning fireplace at the back of the home, and was quickly extinguished.

The house was in the middle of a renovation including roof work, which allowed firefighters an opening in the roof to use for ventilation.

Damage is not believed to be significant.
