Will Waterloo Region go through July without thermometers hitting 30 C even once?

If it happens, it’ll be for the first time since 2009.

But if not, Tuesday could be the primary culprit.

Environment Canada forecasts temperatures to top out right around the 30 C mark.

After that, a cold front will move in. Forecast highs for the rest of the work week include 25 C on Wednesday, 23 C on Thursday and 25 C on Friday.

Rain is possible late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and showers or thunderstorms more likely through the day Thursday – but the end of the week and weekend are expected to be, at worst, partly cloudy.

Elsewhere in our coverage area, 30 C seems to be the only target for Tuesday.

Regions around Guelph, Woodstock, Brantford, Goderich, Wingham, Saugeen Shores, Stratford, Listowel, Mount Forest, Hanover and Owen Sound are all forecast to just cross that barrier.

The Bruce Peninsula falls just short, with a forecast high of 29 C.

For the rest of the week, highs will hover in the low to mid-20s and lows between 12 and 14 across southwestern Ontario, with all precipitation forecast to move out of the area by Wednesday evening.
