A pedestrian was taken to a London hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Huron County.

OPP say they’re continuing to search for the car, which did not remain at the scene.

The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Amberley Road near Ramsay Line and the community of Bluevale – west of Listowel and east of Wingham.

The pedestrian was found lying on the roadway when emergency crews arrived.

A passenger-side mirror and some glass were found at the scene and believed to have come from the vehicle.

Police say they appear to have come from a heavy-duty pickup or utility truck.

“We’re resolved to finding the person responsible for not stopping to render assistance and leaving the scene,” Staff Sgt. Jason Younan said in a press release.

Both the vehicle and the pedestrian are believed to have been travelling westbound on Amberley.
