A man who allegedly used a basketball to cause damage at a downtown Guelph building was arrested nearby a short time later – with the basketball still in his possession.

Guelph Police say they were called to a Carden Street building Friday evening after a basketball was used to damage two lights in the building’s lobby.

Video surveillance footage helped police identify the man.

Police say they soon caught up with him on Gordon Street, where he was bouncing the ball.

The 35-year-old man now faces charges of mischief and breach of probation.
