A 49-year-old Guelph man stands accused of accessing and possessing pornographic images of children, as well as making them available for distribution.

Police say William Dallinga was arrested Wednesday, in the basement apartment of a home on Kensington Street, following an undercover online investigation.

“The officers were able to seize hard drives (and) some other computer peripherals,” said Guelph Police Staff Sgt. Tim Griffiths.

Mette Millar, who lives across the street, was home at the time and wondered what the police cars were doing on Kensington.

She says she’s sympathetic to the couple whose basement Dallinga has been renting for several years.

“They would have been just devastated to find out about somebody like that in their home,” she said.

Dallinga appeared in court Wednesday and was released from custody on bail.
