The immediate flood risk has ended, but the Grand River watershed isn’t completely out of the woods just yet.

All flood watches and warnings issued by the Grand River Conservation Authority were ended Wednesday.

According to the GRCA, high water had made it through the river to the Dunnville area by midday Wednesday, and flows are receding across the watershed.

Roads that have been closed over the course of April due to flooding are expected to reopen within the next few days.

Although water levels will remain high until warmer, drier weather arrives, they’re not expected to break the banks.

Still, with higher-than-usual waterways and wet ground across the watershed, heavy rainfall could trigger a change in the flooding outlook – as could the last of the snow melt in Dufferin County, at the extreme north end of the GRCA’s area.

Water levels at the GRCA’s three reservoirs have returned to their normal range following days at or near capacity.
