A number of peculiar thefts were reported Thursday in the Haldimand-Norfolk rural area south of Brantford.

Perhaps the strangest of the thefts occurred in Hagersville, where a barber pole was stolen from the Clipper Ship barbershop.

It’s not clear exactly why or when the pole was taken, other than that it was sometime between when the shop closed Wednesday and when it opened Thursday morning.

At 8:45 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a home on Queensway West in Simcoe where a garden hose had been stolen.

OPP say the hose was taken sometime between last Friday and Sunday, but wasn’t reported for several days.

Over the noon hour, police responded to a property on Front Road in Turkey Point, where a golf cart had been stolen sometime over the previous week.

Anyone with information regarding any of the thefts is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
