It appears patio season, gardening and various other warm weather activities have been put on hold as Environment Canada issues a frost advisory.

Unseasonably cold arctic air is passing through Southern Ontario and temperatures will plunge to near or below the zero degree mark for several hours overnight and into Monday morning.

Environment Canada says frost may damage some crops and should be protected. Tender plants should also be brought indoors this evening if possible.

Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge’s daytime high of 5 C is well below the seasonal average.

Temperatures are expected to warm up on Monday morning with a high of 13 C.
