Matt Taylor was not only Paul Lalonde’s roommate, he was his long time best friend, and the closest thing either man had to a family.

Taylor says they met eight years ago in Toronto, and have lived off and on over the last six years.

“We were more like brothers if I went somewhere someone would ask me where's Paul or if Paul was there where's Matty kind of thing just brothers,” says Taylor.

Taylor says on the night he died, Lalonde was on his way to the nearby plaza to buy some cream for his coffee but never came back.

“I’m getting through it but it’s really hard, not saying good night to him, I’ll see you in the morning kind of thing, it’s tough,” says Taylor.

Paul Lalonde was hit by two cars while crossing Cedar Street in Cambridge on November 26th.

Over the last two weeks, police have sent out a team of investigators to canvass the neighbourhood and follow up on several leads.

Officers have been showing a composite sketch to people in the area but they haven't found the driver of a white pickup truck believed to have been involved in the hit-and-run.

For that person, Taylor has a message, “Turn yourself in. I know he's gotta have a big weight on him.”

According to Taylor, Lalonde took him under his wing when they both hit hard times and moved to Cambridge to straighten out their lives.

“He was the type of guy that would do anything just to see someone else going farther in life even if it meant him going backward, just to see me or someone else succeed a little bit,” says Taylor.

Police say the truck they are looking for, has a white cap on the back and will have damage to the driver's side headlight and mirror.

The vehicle was initially believed to be a Ford F-250, but police have since expanded their search to include F-250, F-350 and F-550 super duty pickup trucks from the model years 1999 to 2001, as well as Ford Excursions from model years 2000 to 2002.
