Charges have been dropped against a Kitchener-based pain management specialist accused of fraud.

Dr. Kulbir Billing was arrested in December in connection with two incidents in which, police alleged, he billed the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and OHIP for services he did not actually provide.

Tuesday, the Crown withdrew the charges at Billing’s first court appearance.

“The Crown determined that there was no reasonable prospect of conviction and, accordingly, requested that the charges be withdrawn,” Ministry of the Attorney General spokesperson Brendan Crawley told CTV News in an email.

Billing operates out of a pain clinic on River Road in Kitchener, and also practices in Palmerston.
