A Kitchener woman who used to work as a real estate agent is accused of setting up showings, then stealing items from the unoccupied homes.

Waterloo Regional Police say their investigation began when they were contacted by a homeowner who believed their house had been broken into while they were away for a house showing.

Investigators eventually linked the break-in to the Kitchener woman, who they say committed one break-in at a home in Cambridge and attempted to do the same thing two other times at homes in Kitchener.

All three incidents occurred in July, police say, although there may be more that investigators are not yet aware of.

Kelly Tousek, 39, is charged with three counts of identity fraud, two counts of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, and one count of breaking and entering.

According to the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of Realtors, Tousek is a former licensed real estate registrant and former member of their organization.
