More historical sex charges have been laid against a former Cambridge doctor.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, Allan Umar-Khitab was arrested last Friday and charged with one count apiece of sexual assault and sexual interference in connection with an alleged incident from the 1990s.

This is not the first accusation of sexual behaviour involving Umar-Khitab, who previously worked as a psychiatrist at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

In 1999, he was accused of molesting five young boys who were his patients between 1989 and 1994.

Two years later, he forfeited his psychiatry license by admitting to professional misconduct – specifically the sexual abuse of multiple patients.

Police say there may be additional victims in the case, and if there are, they’d like to speak with them.
