It’s the best news yet for Katie Herron.

The five-year-old leukemia patient will return to her Cambridge home Saturday – 100 days exactly after receiving a bone marrow transplant.

“Exciting day for Katie Star at clinic today. She was given the ‘all clear’ to return home tomorrow,” mother Anne Hodgkinson wrote on Facebook.

Family members say Herron continues to recover well from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, which was her second battle with cancer in her short life, but will need to be in isolation at home for the next year.

She'll also be back at SickKids Hospital in Toronto on a regular basis for tests and check-ups.

A stem cell clinic was held in Cambridge in February to encourage donor registration and potentially find a match for the then-four-year-old, with hundreds of people showing up.
