A car fire drew a crowd of onlookers in a Cambridge parking lot Friday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the parking lot of a Pinebush Road plaza shortly after 3 p.m.

They were able to extinguish the flames quickly, but the car is not considered salvageable.

It’s not clear what caused the fire, which began in the car’s engine.

Its owner was not around at the time.
