Family members of Constable Jennifer Kovach are sharing memories and are saying thank you to friends, strangers and emergency workers including her father’s former EMS partner, who responded to the scene of the fatal crash early Thursday morning.

Kovach’s father Bill and other family members made a statement through Guelph Police this weekend.

They’re remembering Jennifer as kind, energetic and devoted to life.  They are devastated by the loss.

Kovach’s father Bill is a retired paramedic and in the statement he thanks his former EMS partner Paul who responded to the scene.

They also thanked the emergency, police, fire and hospital workers for their efforts and the Guelph Transit driver for comforting and supporting Jennifer in spite of the driver’s own injuries.

In the statement, Kovach’s brother Brian describes her as ‘the glue’ that kept the family together.  They say she was looking forward to being an aunt to the baby girl named Paige, born the same night Constable Kovach died.

They add that her giving spirit is evident even in death because she had signed her organ donor card.

Visitation for Constable Kovach will be on Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20 at 2p-4p and 7p-9p at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Gordon Street in Guelph.  Her funeral is Thursday, March 21 at the Sleeman Centre at 11:30 a.m.
