A heavy police presence was seen in Drayton following the robbery of a downtown bank.

Wellington County OPP say the robbery happened shortly before 5 p.m. Monday, at the RBC branch on Main Street East.

According to police, a man entered the bank, displayed a weapon, assaulted a bank employee and ran away with stolen cash.

He was last seen running eastbound on Main Street.

Police describe the man as being approximately 5’8” tall with a thin build.

They say he was wearing a black and dark green spring coat, a black toque and scarf, and navy blue sport pants.

Also of interest to police in connection with the robbery is a newer model, dark-coloured SUV similar to a Mazda XC5.

Driving that vehicle, police say, was a woman possibly in her 20s, with tanned white skin and dark, shoulder-length hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
