The Waterloo Regional Police Service has made an early bust on an unofficial student party planned for St. Patrick’s Day.

The party was going to be held in a university area home along Columbia Street, and tickets for the event were being promoted through Facebook.

After learning the location of the party, police applied for and were granted a search warrant.

They searched the home Sunday morning and seized 4,400 cans of beer valued at approximately $5,500. Police took the legally purchased beer because the homeowners were advertising a liquor event and were not licensed.

Charges are pending.
