Two people were seen running away from their vehicle after it became involved in a crash Tuesday afternoon, Waterloo Regional Police say.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m., at Ira Needles Boulevard and University Avenue.

According to police, a 26-year-old driver was stopped at the northern side of the roundabout, waiting to enter, when his vehicle was rear-ended.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit then got out of his vehicle and tried to talk to the other driver, at which point the other vehicle allegedly attempted to drive into the roundabout.

As a result, police say, the 26-year-old became trapped pinned between the two vehicles, causing bruising to his legs.

The other vehicle then allegedly managed to leave the scene, hitting a light pole and ending up undriveable.

Witnesses told police they saw a man and woman get out of that vehicle and head toward Lemon Grass Street.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact police.
