The man killed Thursday when his vehicle was hit by a transport truck on Highway 401 has been identified as a resident of eastern Ontario.

Oxford County OPP say 74-year-old William Berry, who lives east of Kingston in Leeds and the Thousand Islands, was the victim of the early-morning collision near Culloden Road outside Ingersoll.

Police have said that Berry’s vehicle hit the back of a transport truck as the truck entered the highway from an on-ramp.

The collision sent Berry’s vehicle into the highway’s centre median.

The driver of the truck was not injured. Highway 401 was closed to eastbound traffic in the area for about four hours.
