Police have laid a charge of careless driving in connection with a collision that left all westbound lanes of Highway 401 closed for more than nine hours.

According to Oxford County OPP, a 49-year-old man transport truck driver has been charged in connection with Thursday’s crash.

His truck was one of three vehicles involved in the crash, which occurred between Woodstock and Ingersoll near the service centres.

The truck ended up on its side, spilling 450 litres of diesel fuel onto the highway.

The collision also sent three people to hospital – one with serious injuries and two with injuries said to be less severe.
