Dog adoptions have been halted temporarily at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society while two puppies are being treated for diarrhea.

Adoptions were suspended on Wednesday after staff isolated two puppies.

The puppies were brought in to the shelter just before Christmas.

A veterinarian will be reassessing the situation on Monday.

Adoption co-ordinator Christine Lishman advises anyone interested in adopting a dog or has a pending application to call ahead on Monday to make sure it’s re-opened.

Cats are not at risk and are still available to be adopted along with a variety of other pets like hamsters and rabbits.
