A number of homes on the outskirts of St. George were evacuated Monday due to the discovery of a piece of military ordnance.
Brant County OPP say they were called to the Beverly Street home after a property owner found the item while doing renovations.
All homes along Beverly between Reid Street and Burt Road were ordered evacuated.
Residents were allowed to return home during the early afternoon.
Canadian Forces personnel were expected to arrive on-scene later in the day, to examine and likely dispose of the item.
Police say the ordnance likely dates back to the Second World War.
