For the second time in as many months, Waterloo Regional Police are trying to track down an unusual set of items stolen from Woodside National Historic Site – even though they’ve made arrests in both cases.

Police report that the Kitchener property – the boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada’s 10th prime minister – was burgled sometime last weekend.

Stolen were a truck belonging to Parks Canada and other items, including an assortment of deactivated long-guns.

According to police, the weapons are used only for historical re-enactments and training purposes, and cannot actually fire.

A 22-year-old Cambridge resident was arrested Tuesday in Huron County in connection to the thefts.

They face charges including breaking and entering, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and mischief.

Police say they’ve found the truck and some of the other stolen property, but the guns remain missing.

Last month, police reported the theft of an autographed stamp collection from Woodside.

In that case, an arrest was made, but half of the stamps remained missing.
