Multiple crashes, one northwest of Strathroy the other outside the northwest corner of London resulted in the deaths of two people and life threatening injuries to three others.

The first crash happened Saturday afternoon, and involved three vehicles. Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex Centre Fire Services and Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services responded.

Police say a grey GMC truck was travelling northbound on Vanneck Road when it collided with a red Dodge car at the intersection of Egremont Drive and Vanneck. The intersection is governed by traffic lights.

After the first collision the Dodge car that was travelling eastbound on Egremont collided with a silver Honda travelling westbound.

The 81-year-old driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased and has been identified as Marion Satchwill from Strathroy-Caradoc.

The 19-year-old man driving the Dodge and its two passengers a 16-year-old girl and 19-year-old man were transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver is now listed in good condition, while the two passengers are in fair condition.

The 46-year-old driver and the two girls aged five and three in the GMC were not taken to hospital.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) closed Egremont from Denfield Road to Melrose Drive, and Vanneck from Sunningdale Road to Boston Drive for the investigation until about 7 p.m.

A second crash involved a single driver on Sunday morning northwest of Strathroy. Middlesex County OPP responded to a single motor vehicle crash on Centre Road.

The Chevrolet car was driving southbound on Centre Road when it crossed the lane travelled down an embankment then rolled, police say the lone driver is deceased.

OPP TTCI closed Centre Road from Glasgow Street to Townsend Line for their investigation.
