A careless driving charge was laid in a crash that significantly damaged two vehicles and sent three people to hospital.

Firefighters, police and EMS were called to the site of the crash – Arthur Street South near St. Jacobs, just south of the Sawmill Road roundabout – around 11:25 a.m. Thursday.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, a Hyundai vehicle made a U-turn while driving along Arthur, landing directly in the path of a Dodge minivan.

All three people in the minivan, which was driven by a 78-year-old Kitchener man, were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 47-year-old woman from Grimsby, is charged with careless driving.

She was not injured.

Arthur Street was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
