Highway 6 was closed south of Caledonia for most of Monday due to a crash that left one man with serious injuries.

The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m., at Highway 6 and Third Line Road, involving a westbound Volkswagen car and a northbound fuel tanker.

According to Haldimand County OPP, the force of the crash caused the driver of the Volkswagen to be ejected from his vehicle, causing serious injuries.

The 20-year-old Haldimand County resident is in hospital in stable but serious condition, police say.

The driver of the fuel truck was not injured, but the truck itself received extensive damage and needs to be unloaded before it can be taken from the scene of the crash.
