A 63-year-old man from the London area is dead following a crash in Simcoe.

Firefighters, police and paramedics responded to a location on Highway 24 shortly after 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Norfolk County OPP say a pickup truck was heading northbound on the road when it collided with the back-end of another vehicle.

The truck then left the road, falling into the ditch and hitting a hydro pole.

Its driver, an Elgin County resident, was pronounced dead in hospital.

His name has not been released.

The highway was expected to remain closed between Concession 13 and Concession 14 until Thursday night.
