An Oxford County man has been fined $2,500 for shooting a firearm from a roadway while hunting for coyotes.

The fine was issued earlier this month in Woodstock court, after the Blandford-Blenheim resident pleaded guilty to the offence.

It was in connection with an incident dating back to Jan. 12, 2015.

On that day, Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says, a bullet struck a house in the community of Plattsville.

According to the ministry, the man had fired his weapon at a coyote that was running through a field near the house.
