Public consultations will begin next week as the province moves to reform policing in Ontario.

Meetings will be held in Colour, London, Newmarket, Hamilton, Thunder Bay, Ottawa, Salt Sate. Marie, and Toronto, and residents can also contribute online.

The province says the nature of policing and the role of police officers have changed since the Police Services Act was written in 1990.

The government is seeking input on clarifying police duties, modernizing training programs and delivering services, while enhancing accountability and ensuring police oversight bodies are effective.
