An 82-year-old woman who had to be freed from her vehicle by firefighters last Friday has been charged with careless driving.

Friday afternoon, the woman lost control of her vehicle while driving on Idle Creek Drive in Kitchener’s east end.

Waterloo Regional Police say the vehicle hit two curbs, a tree and the side of the house. It ended up on its side, wedged between the tree and the house.

Firefighters cut open the vehicle’s roof to get at the woman, who was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
