Waterloo Regional police have now laid charges in the May 6 fatal collision involving an SUV and a bicyclist on Hergott Road in Wellesley Township.

On Sunday, May 6, Barrie Conrod and his wife were cycling southbound on Hergott Road when Barrie was struck from behind by a vehicle travelling in the same direction.

Conrod, an avid cyclist, died at the scene from head injuries sustained in the collision. Police indicated that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Dale Wideman of St. Clements, the driver of the Lincoln, is charged with careless driving. Mr. Wideman is scheduled for a court appearance on August 27.
