Some terrifying moments for a driver and passenger after their car crashed into a hydro pole and burst into flames.

It happened on Glasgow Street in Kitchener Saturday afternoon.

One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Passersby were startled to see the flames and thick smoke billowing up the street.

Justine Hodson and her father were driving by when they spotted the crash.

She pulled out her camera to capture the flames.

“I was worried because there was popping noises,” she said. “It sounded like it was going to explode.”

Firefighters quickly put out the flames but the inside of the car was completely destroyed.

Hydro crews were also called to the scene to repair the pole.
