Police believe the same people are responsible for an unusual break-in at a Kitchener convenience store early Monday morning, and another at a Cambridge electronics retailer just hours later.

The first break-in occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the Upper Village Market on Fairway Road North.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, the thieves entered the convenience store by drilling through the wall of a vacant business beside the variety store.

Once inside, they disabled the store’s alarm and proceeded to steal a significant amount of cigarettes, as well as cold medicine and phone accessories.

About two hours later, a group of people broke into The Source on Pinebush Road.

Again, the store was entered via a hole drilled from a vacant neighbouring unit.

Approximately $10,000 worth of electronic devices were stolen.

Anyone with information regarding either break-in is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
