A Brantford woman was physically forced to stay in a vehicle and sexually assaulted, police in that city say.

Police say the woman initially got into the vehicle of the man – who she knew as a “casual acquaintance” – consensually Wednesday night.

When they stopped on Balfour Street in the West Brant neighbourhood, the man allegedly kept the woman from getting out of the vehicle, held her down and sexually assaulted her.

After that, police say, he threw the woman out of the vehicle.

People in the area saw the woman on the sidewalk, crying, and called police.

The woman was then taken to hospital.

Police have arrested a 43-year-old Brantford man, who now faces charges of sexual assault and forcible confinement.
