Emergency crews were called to the scene of an accident at a country market near West Montrose on Wednesday and an 11-year-old boy was rushed to hospital.

The call came in around 3:30 p.m. that a boy had been injured in an accident involving a service elevator at Winroe Gardens on Katherine Street South in Conestogo.

The boy was transported by ambulance to Grand River Hospital in Kitchener and then airlifted to a Hamilton hospital.

Reports say the boy was suffering from head trauma, but it's unclear how serious his injuries are.

Waterloo Region police says the Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate, but no details are being released on exactly what happened.
