Some people who live near Hanover are being asked not to use a nearby lake for bathing, swimming or drinking water.

According to the Grey Bruce Health Unit, recent tests showed a blue green algae bloom in Lake Rosalind.

While additional tests have been ordered to determine how concentrated the algae is in the lake, people in the area are being asked to avoid entering the water at either Lake Rosalind or the interconnected Marl Lake, or having their pets enter the water.

People who use either lake for drinking water are being asked to find alternative sources for the time being, as even boiling the water will not remove toxins from the algae.

Lake Rosalind and Marl Lake are located just northwest of Hanover, near the Saugeen Municipal Airport.
