It was a packed house at Piller’s Arena Saturday night as figure skaters Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch took to the ice.

The pairs team performed one of their routines in front of a sold out arena of their supporters.

At the end of their routine the crowd gave Moore-Towers and Moscovitch a standing ovation.

Both were overwhelmed with the community support.

“We didn’t expect this by any means,” said Moore-Towers.

The pair will be heading to Sochi, Russia next week to compete in the Winter Olympics.

“We’re very proud that we’re wearing the Canadian flag,” said Moscovitch. “We’re going to make sure the world knows how proud we are.”

Proceeds from the event, organized by the Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club and the City of Waterloo, will go to help to cover their travel expenses to Sochi.
